Meet Amy Rolfes
Amy Rolfes serves as the elected St. Joseph County Circuit Court Clerk, where she has been recognized statewide and nationally for her leadership in modernizing elections, improving voter access, and strengthening public trust in the democratic process.
Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Amy earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from the University of Michigan. Her career spans decades of public service, nonprofit leadership, and small business ownership. Before moving to Indiana, Amy led one of Michigan’s first employer-sponsored childcare centers through a groundbreaking infant care licensing process and served as Executive Director of the Family Learning Institute, managing more than 200 students and volunteers weekly. She also spent time overseas in South Africa as Director of Children’s Programs at an orphanage, coordinating with government agencies, educators, and social workers to improve the lives of vulnerable youth.
Since taking office in St. Joseph County, Amy has delivered major reforms and earned recognition for her dedication to accessible, secure, and transparent elections:
2024 Honorable Mention Award for Elections 101, celebrating innovation in election administration
Created a video series Voting 101 to inform the public of the voting process
Successfully identified potential petition fraud, passed a Post-Election Audit with the highest rating possible, and participated in the national #Protect2024 election integrity series
Launched Satellite Vote Centers, enhanced election worker training, and improved Election Day logistics through strategic scheduling and professional standards
Appeared on Politically Speaking to discuss ongoing election reforms and built a strong voter education presence on social media
Led Work the Vote 2024, a countywide initiative to increase civic engagement and volunteerism
Amy has also secured critical funding through HAVA (Help America Vote Act) Election Security Grants and a grant through the U.S. Election Assistance Commission.
Her leadership extends beyond the ballot box. Amy successfully merged the Voter Registration Department with the Clerk’s Office, improving efficiency and communication. She also completed the Certification in Election Administration, Technology and Security (CEATS) at Ball State University and was selected to join Indiana’s Secretary of State on an international election observation trip to Guatemala, representing Indiana in global election integrity efforts.
